A Proud Moment in Parenting

Two Fridays ago after breakfast, I told Adele that we needed to clean the house because we were having friends over.  She declared that she would clean the house "by herself."  I said "Great" and told her she could clean the living room.  I was mostly just thinking of this as a great opportunity to keep her out of the kitchen so I could more easily clean there.

Imagine my delight when a few minutes later, I heard a delightful cleaning song coming out of the living room.  I went to check it out, and sure enough she was slowly, but steadily putting things away (in the right places!) to a song she was making up herself.  Being as how her first full sentence was "No, mommy, please don't sing song!" (I know-- super long first sentence and excellent use of the word please.)  And I'd never realized how often I made up and sang songs until she started saying that multiple times every day.  So I was equally pleased with the cleaning AND the song composition, which you can hear below.

(just ignore the beginning.  She started "showing off" once she saw me with the camera, but she got back to work pretty quickly.)

(I see that the video isn't playing.  I'll have to do some research into that.)

She did eventually get the whole room pretty clean.  A few minutes after that, I heard a death-shriek coming from the living room.  I ran in to save Adele from an obvious murder situation, only to discover that she was very mad because Ivar was trying to play with some of the toys she had just put away.  Oh really Adele?  Is that upsetting to you?  Hmmm.....
